A Large Area Wide Bandwidth THz Phase Shifter Plate for High Intensity Field Applications

We present the design, fabrication, and experimental test of a THz all-dielectric phase shifter plate. The design consists two wave plate zones coupled in perpendicular orientation with respect to each other. A large surface area device is realized by an additive manufacturing technique using Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS). Its characteristics are analytically evaluated experimentally measured band time domain spectroscopy imaging routines. proposed enables creation quasi-ideal retardation between planes good uniformity on area. also achieve flexibility select plane symmetry around chosen central axes choice sensitive control over electromagnetic field polarization direction without inducing any temporal shifts front components traversed beam. Due its inherent simplicity robustness, can be easily scaled at higher frequencies potentially used several advanced applications, including free-electron laser (FEL) systems where accurate high intensity beams required.
